The Stone, Water & Ice series of geo-education resources is published by the Burren Connect Project – and is an outcome of the transnational NEED project that has been ongoing in the Burren since 2008.

The series of geo-education resources are published to raise an awareness of the geology and landscape of the Burren, in the region’s schools, visitor centres and businesses.

The Stone, Water and Ice series includes:

  • 36 page A4 Scientific Guide to the Geology of the Burren
  • Z-Card map & brochure on geo-education environments & accessible outdoor locations for field visits in the Burren

A new 64 page illustrated book on the geology of the Burren, with a detailed guide to the geology, landscape and cultural history at nine geosites throughout the Burren.

This book gives a fascinating insight into the unique landscape of the Burren, and clearly explains the events and processes that led to the formation of the Burren landscape.

Geoscientific Guide to the Burren

A new 36 page guide to the geology of the Burren has been published as part of the NEED project. This guide gives detailed information on the lithology, stratigraphy, palaeontology, geomorphology, karst landscapes and mineral resources in the Burren.
